Swarm of bees-By Aria.

I was eating my lunch with Emily, Grace, Skye, Issy and Livvy under a shady tree when, all of a sudden like the flick of a switch, everyone was

screaming and shouting.

It had all gone from calm to chaos! I wondered what was going on.

I heard people shouting “BEE’S ! BEE’S!”shouted KC and Ava. I looked around and saw a swarm of bees in front of me. I ran into the class with the rest of the kids like a group of angry dogs because Mrs May shouted “ INTO YOUR CLASS NOW!!!!”. We had to go into lock-down. Mrs May tried to call Dana but he didn’t pick up. Then Mrs May called Megan and asked her to call Dana.

When Dana got to school we stayed inside until he had gotten rid of most of the bees. Dana thought there were around 20,000 bees. Meanwhile, inside the classroom people were looking out the window and the other’s that were scared didn’t want to look. I saw Dana smoke the Queen bee and more bees followed. Then Dana left, what an exciting event!!!

Elaborated sentences

In Room 4 we have been looking at making sentences more interesting for our reader by adding details. We have had so much fun taking a boring sentence and making it great. Check out my examples.

The lady walked out of the shop.

The beautiful lady walked happily out of the corner shop, with a birthday cake in her hands, because it was her child's birthday.

The pig ate from his trough.

The hungry pig that was black ate quickly out of his trough, that was wooden and grey, because his tummy was empty and wanted food.

The teacher came into the classroom.

The amazing teacher skipped into the classroom, and found the class had decorated the room because, it was her birthday and they all had presents for her and they sang her “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!”

The mouse went into his hole.

The Queen mouse went into her beautiful, golden, clean, sparkly hide-out place.

The robber went into the house.

The sneaky and quick burglar made it’s way into the Queen’s house.

The girl walked into the classroom.

One-day the girl skipped into the clean classroom.  

The dog sat by his kennel.

The play-full dog ran twice around his kennel.

The bird flew in the window.

The blue bird flew in the window that was left open at night time.

The cat sat on the mat.

The ginger cat sat on the the old mat in front of the fire to get warm.

The computer stopped working.

The old computer that was in the classroom stopped working one day.

The door opened.

The door slowly opened with a creak and scared the cat.

The amazing teacher skipped into the classroom, and found the class had decorated the room because, it was her birthday and they all had presents for her and they sang her “HAPPY BIRTHDAY!” They all came up to her with their presents for Mrs May and had a party with lots of food. Then Mrs May thought “ so that is why the children had so much food in their lunch boxes this morning”.

I think that Mrs May is at willy wonka’s factory and is in the chocolate river swimming and eating the plant’s which are made of sugar and other lollies. Then willy wonka came in and said “are you having a good time at my factory Mrs May”? “Yes” said Mrs May. But then Mrs May said “I must be going soon back to see my class because I miss them a lot”. Then Mr Willy Wonka said “My oompa loompas will take you in a helicopter back to your school”. “All you have to do is tell them where you want to go and they will follow your orders”. Then when Mrs May gets back to school every one in room 4 ask “Did you have a good time at Wonka’s factory”? “Yes!”said Mrs May. “ I had a great time there and I swam in the chocolate river”!

Meeting Mr Willy Wonka!!!!!!

As Mr Willy Wonka comes out he is limping like he is hurt. I think oh no! He is hurt! But then he falls forward and does a forward roll!!! To all of us and is in front of us 5 children with golden tickets.

I think about Mr Willy Wonka then I tell him that he is a funny man. Mr Willy Wonka tells us to come forward and show him the golden tickets. When he let us in it was really hot I was about to faint!! I noticed that Mr Willy Wonka was wearing a purple and green outfit I liked it alot. Mr Willy Wonka told us to hang them up where  we wanted. My stomach rumbled because I was hungry by the smell of chocolate. I can hear him telling us to follow him.

All of us heard singing when we were in the first room Mr Willy Wonka tells us that they are “Oompa-  Loompas”!!!!!!! I am impressed by Mr Willy Wonka's idea. I think that this is going to be the best day in my live!!!

House on fire!!

House on fire!!

Suddenly I hear a smoke-alarm and I get out of my bed and open my door. I can hear flames up on the wall. I open another door and see the angry ferocious wild flames licking the things around me like a lollipop. I shout FIRE FIRE FIRE to wake anyone in the house. Then I get down, get low, and get out of my house. I run to the mailbox and I get out my phone and call 111 and tell the person my address and phone number ‘632 Clark’s Flat Road 03 4859839’. Then I tell them my name and how many people are in my family. They ask me if everyone is out of the house and I say ’Yes’. Then I can hear the fire truck coming up the driveway. I am so glad that they are putting out the fire.

Tree planting at Waitahuna

Tree planting at Waitahuna.       

On Tuesday Room 4 and 7 went to Waitahuna River with Mrs May, Marie and some parents. There was Rachel and Grant Murray. Craig Simpson from Land-care told us what we were doing. At the river there was Keiran and Angus ( the electric fishermen.) There was Matt from Department of Conservation, Glenn ( from the Sinclair Wetlands - helped with planting) and 2 ladies from the Otago Regional Council. It was at Nick's farm. It was on Tuesday the 16th of  May and we left school at 9.30 and got back at 12.30. We planted fluxes along the river.

We had to dig a hole then we took the plant out  of the black bag and we put it in the hole. Then we covered the hole with the mashed up dirt and stepped on it so that the wind wouldn’t blow it out. We wanted to help the fish and eels that live in the Waitahuna river to have a better, healthier environment to live in. The flaxes help the eels to hide, they stop the river banks from sliding into the river by making them strong and they provide somewhere for insects to live. Planting flaxes now will make the river a better environment for a long time. We got into a group of 3 or 2 children and 1 adult to dig our holes and plant our flaxes. The 2 classes planted about 200 flax bushes while we were there. 1,000 plants were planted in total.

While we were there Keiran showed us an eel that he had caught in a net that he had set overnight. He also showed us electric fishing, which is where you use an electric current to stun the fish, so that they can catch them and look at them more closely. He told us that the bigger the fish the more effect the electric shock would have on them. He showed us a brown trout and a lamprey eel that he had caught earlier. Lamprey eels are very rare and it was the first one Keiran had ever seen. They are an ancient fish, sometimes called a ‘sucker eel’ because they don’t have a jaw and they just suck.

House on Fire.

Today I am going to a house which is being put on fire on purpose. The flames start of small and the smoke rises out of the window’s. The flames grow and grow until they come out of the roof. There are six firefighters at the house. Three go closer to the house. Two carry a hose and the other one brings the hose. Then the flames start to out of the roof and the roof melts away like snow on a hot day. The wall slowly starts to wobble then then it falls down onto the ground  but the chimney stood as still as a rock stiffened into the ground. There are only some of the framing left and a wall. Now there is only the wall and it is all black. The smoke is filling up the open space in the sky. The flames slowly go out and then there is nothing left but black ashes on the ground. There is still smoke in the air. There is only little flames left so they put them out with water.

This year we did art that is called Hundertwasser self portaits

The senior swimming sports.

On Friday was the swimming sports for year four and up. I did the length races in the big pool. The first race I dived  into the pool my goggles fell of my head and around my neck and I had to do the whole length with my goggles around my neck and my eyes hurt as soon as  I came out of the water I also got last in the free style . Next was the backstroke and I came third in the race. In the race I was in there was Grace , Emily, Katie, Ava, Oranje, Else and me. In the underwater race I came  second last in that. The flutter-board was also fun I came tied  with Else. At least it was all fun.We also got a sausage sizzle for lunch. Mum came down and watched me with Leilani. Mum was happy with me after all the races.

Modigliani Self Portrait

We have been doing Modigliani Self Portrait's. We had to do long and skinny neck's and big heads.We had to do bold and our favourite colours if we wanted to. We had to do 1 colour for everything and no blending colours or black showing threw our boldness.We don't do a colour that we have all ready done in our portrait for our background.I did a teal for my background.They are fun to do with Mrs May.She does them every second year in Room 4.I love doing Modigliani Self Portrait's.I think they will look cool on the wall when we are all finished.

Junior Athletics Day

On Friday it was the Junior Athletics Day.There was Long jump,Shot put,Discus,High jump,Obstacle course,Nerf  and Distance.There was a sausage sizzle.I got a sausage . It was very yummy.At the end of the day there was a relay and the teams where Woods,Read and Waitahuna Read won the relay.I was not in it but my brother Matt was in it.I am in the Read house and my friends are in Woods.

SWIMMING IN ROOM 4.

In room 4 we have been doing a lot of swimming this year.I am going to the swimming sports for year 4. We have been practising swimming lengths of the pool. We do back-stroke and free-style. I like our pool at the school. It is just up the hill on the very top. I love our pool because it is a heated pool.(When it is hot the water is cool and when it is cold the water is warm.)
